We have a great team working hard to serve you in our café and shop. We employ a manager, an assistant manager and a baker. Alongside them we have people from the local community and area giving their services voluntarily.
Why do we call ourselves a ‘social enterprise’ café?
A social enterprise has ‘a conscience or a cause’ and ours is to give people with needs which limit their opportunities for training and employment a chance to gain valuable work experience; an opportunity to grow in self-confidence in a safe and caring environment. We have several people with such needs on our team who help in the café and in the kitchen and we ask for your understanding when being served.
We hope that our regulars and visitors alike enjoy our café experience but also learn about and support the work we do with our team.
Our Christian Bookshop
One of the Charity’s objectives is to sell Christian literature and with that in mind we stock a wide range of books: Bibles, such as the increasingly popular New Living Translation Bible, Bible notes (e.g. ‘Every Day With Jesus’) and the Bible commentaries.
If you are visiting do not hesitate to speak to our staff for advice and guidance. They will be only too happy to help. Books can also be ordered and will normally arrive within a couple of days.
Our shop also has a range of Christian gifts ranging from diaries, ‘Apples of Gold’ desk calendars with daily Bible verses, hand held crosses and much more.
A wide selection of cards with Christian verses is available too. One of the most beautiful ranges we stock is created by Hannah Dunnett. Her hand-painted designs in water colour are accompanied by favourite verses of scripture and treasured hymns. Leonard Smith is another favourite; a British photographer who shares his passion for photography by publishing his images on greetings cards.
This is just a taste of what we offer in our shop but for the full range of books, cards and gifts we would love to welcome you here!
Please note that we are a registered charity. Our number is: 1048903
